What's New in QuadriSpace 2011?

 

Material Library

The 2011 product line introduces a material library that includes metals, plastics, woods, and much more. The new material library allows users to create and manage their own custom library of materials too. The library includes new textures, bump maps and ready-to-go materials.

 

 

3D Performance Improvements

Starting with 2009 SP2, QuadriSpace improved performance by up to 20x over previous product releases. With 2011, QuadriSpace again improves performances by 5x more while adding new rendering quality upgrades.

 

Linked Text Boxes

Flowing text from one text box to another is a powerful new feature in 2011. Tables and other data can also be linked to text boxes that are placed in other areas of the document page or on other pages in the document.

 

 

Smart Template Technology™ (Patent Pending)

Originally introduced in 2009 SP2, Smart Template Technology is a powerful automation capability that allows users to quick insert multiple pages of graphical content based on a parts list, exploded view or set of illustrations. Smart Illustration Technology can be used to create multiple illustrations from parts lists of exploded views.

 

 

Improved Parts List Import Tools

New tools for importing parts lists from Excel make it easy to update parts lists but allowing users to associated data in the current QuadriSpace file with the newly imported parts lists data.

 

 

Improved 3D Rendering Quality

New high quality rendering capabilities that include improved lighting, bump mapping, and a set of new shader-based effects. Also include new effects for selected objects in the 3D scene. Shader effects and rendering styles requires compatible 3D hardware.

 

 

Ground Plane

With 2011, you can include a ground plane. Ground planes support textures, reflections, shadows and more. With a ground plane you can mock up scenarios to graphically show your 3D model in a real world scenario.

 

Improved Illustration Ribbon

Improved to be easier to use and much more intuitive. “Topics” are now “Storyboards”.

 

 

UNICODE Support

Support for UNICODE allowing users to create documents in languages that require large character sets. In addition, UNICODE support provides better compatibility between QuadriSpace products and international operating systems.

 

Revised Metadata Panel (Renamed from Document Panel)

Improved Metadata Panel makes it easy to view or edit metadata fields associated with parts, exploded view steps or illustrations.

  • Improved Rendering: in many cases, anti-aliasing is now enabled for published images.

  • New Action: allows Illustration Markups to play a movie

  • New Tool: rename steps in an exploded view making it easy to apply logical names to a step-by-step process.

  • SketchUp 8 support

  • PDF Publishing Upgrades - Reverse transitions , parts list table highlights when parts are selected, added support for two way selection of parts, improvement printing from interactive 3D PDF documents

  • New Customizable Image Library for Document and Markup Images

  • Added ability to Hide / Show / Select parts in All Illustrations or the Current Storyboard, great help during the document update process

  • Added a “New Parts List” that will show and allow manipulation of all new parts after using the Update Wizard

  • Automatically set Landscape or Portrait on printer

  • Printing to actual page size (instead of always stretch to fit paper)

  • Maintain “Edit Page” status when saving a document

  • Updating a document with revised 3D now maintains materials better

  • Easier to select illustrations for markups actions because they are categorized by storyboard

  • Fix to copy and paste markups

  • Fixed issue with Select Parts In Step

  • Added “Duplicate Step” option when editing steps

  • Fixed issue with illustration not updating when “front” “back” etc is used

  • Fixed issue with selecting an illustration while editing an illustration not modifying the illustration correctly

  • Fixed issue with some markups disrupting rendering of silhouettes

  • Fixed issue with markup linking not saving for shapes

  • The first step created is now named “Step (1)” instead of “Step”.

  • The first group created is now named “Group (1)” instead of “Group”.

  • Fixed drag drop error on steps
    Made it possible to drag select 3D markups

  • Modified bookmark panel to allow delete, move up and move down of multiply selected items

  • Added “Advanced Mouse” option to view right click menu

  • Added “Illustration Properties” to right click menu

  • Changed max units for markup leaders

  • Fixed issue with text boxes on master page not sizing correctly

  • Don’t allow “page settings” to be selected if no document opened

  • Store, display and use page size settings (especially default size)
